The Governance Board
Co-Founders
Eshal Ali
Eshal, a second-year student at Queen’s University, embodies our mission with her keen enthusiasm for both education and science. Her prior experiences and deep understanding of the difficulties that new students encounter inspired her and Seerat to ultimately lead to the formation of ReseNex. Through collaboration, our team is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive community for budding researchers, which is at the heart of our mission.
Seerat Waraich
Seerat is a second-year student at Queen’s who is passionate about accessibility. Upon discovering the limited opportunities for first years and how difficult it was to connect with professors and gain research experience, she teamed up with co-founder Eshal Ali to bring change.
Board of Directors
Anupreet Udhian
Anupreet is currently studying health sciences at Simon Fraser University with an intent to pursue a career in research to identify the prevalence and patterns of disease in different populations. As a first-generation university student, she has spent a vast portion of her life dedicated to working and studying to become successful and to repay her parents for the endless sacrifices. Starting and leading her life multiple steps behind classmates, colleagues, and coworkers left her struggling and feeling lost, she aims to build a bridge, allowing other individuals opportunities and resources that she struggled to discover on her own.
Jiarui Che
Jiarui is a fourth-year health sciences student at Queen's University. He has spent the last year in immunology wet labs learning techniques and advances in the field and is particularly interested in immune-environment interactions and how that informs immune function and susceptibility to disease.
Jiarui found the process of joining a lab as an undergrad with no previous experience frustrating because it felt harder than it needed to be. He didn't know the right people and didn't know where to look to find that "in". A community and network would have made his experience so much easier, which is why he is apart of ReseNeX: to make it easier for undergrads to join labs.
Sohila Aly
Sohila is a dedicated pediatric emergency department registered nurse and recent graduate from the University of Ottawa, where she studied nursing. During her time at the university, she was actively involved with the Undergraduate Student Nursing Association. Currently, Sohila also dedicates her time to conducting research in a rural hospital. With her expertise and passion for healthcare, Sohila serves on the Board of Governance at ReseNeX, where she aims to support students in finding research opportunities that align with their interests and help develop their careers.
Jay Hung
Jay is a second-year Health Sciences student at Queen’s University who is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the psychosocial care for cancer patients and their caregivers. With the ResesNeX team, Jay is eager to foster a supportive community of aspiring researchers by enhancing the accessibility of research opportunities.
Vanessa Latulippe
Vanessa is currently in her second year of the Mechanical Engineering program at Carleton University. Passionate about promoting girls in STEM, Vanessa actively contributes to initiatives that support young women entering engineering fields. With her strong background in engineering concepts and research, she offers valuable insights into how projects, including capstone initiatives, can bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application in the field.
Emily Cochrane
Emily graduated from McGill University in 2023 with a BSc Kinesiology degree. During her time in university, she joined the Theories and Interventions in Exercise and Health Psychology Lab, where she completed her thesis on improving community support services for individuals with spinal cord injuries.
Emily remembers the stress of trying to connect with professors to secure a research opportunity. She gained valuable knowledge and experience and believe all students should have the same chance without added barriers, which is why she is a part of ReseNeX.
Currently, Emily is working as a research coordinator at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. With her passion for healthcare and research, Emily is excited to be a part of the ReseNeX team.
